Finding cures for children's genetic diseases

New Chief Operating Officer

Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Kate Gunn as our Chief Operating Officer (COO) from 16 December 2019.

We are very much looking forward to working with Ms Gunn, who brings wide-ranging experience in the medical research, university, and business sectors to this role.

She is currently COO of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, and prior to that was COO of the ARC Centre for Excellence for All-Sky Astrophysics (CAASTRO) – a research consortium that addressed fundamental unsolved questions about the Universe using the capabilities of next-generation telescopes and advanced instrumentation.

Ms Gunn will lead CMRI’s operations and will oversee the delivery of a critical project that will facilitate CMRI's world-class research – the institute’s expansion through creation of  a major new building at Westmead.

This will increase CMRI’s research capability and collaborations, especially in the areas of paediatric precision medicine for children’s genetic diseases and cancer, and will enable many other research programs and facilities to further our purpose of helping sick children and their families.
