Governor-General becomes patron of CMRI

Children’s Medical Research Institute is pleased to announce that Australia’s Governor-General His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) as its official patron.
General Hurley was sworn in as Australia’s 27th Governor-General in July. He and wife Linda visited CMRI when he was NSW Governor.
“I am delighted to become Patron of the Children’s Medical Research Institute,’’ General Hurley said. “Linda and I remember visiting CMRI back in 2015, and we look forward to doing so again.
“The dedication and passion of staff, supporters and volunteers was clear.

“CMRI’s research and commitment to finding treatments and cures for children’s genetic diseases is critical. By being prepared to ask the difficult questions you’re creating a healthier future for all Australians.
“On behalf of all Australians, I thank you. Linda and I look forward to supporting CMRI and spending time with the hard-working staff, volunteers and supporters over the next five years.”
General Hurley served as the 38th Governor of New South Wales from October 2014 – May 2019.
He was Chief of the Defence Force from 2011 to 2014 and has been awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia and the Distinguished Service Cross.
