Professor Ian Caterson receives the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Foundation Medal for 2015

Congratulations to Professor Ian Caterson AM,  awarded the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Foundation Medal for 2015 for “Excellence and Outstanding Achievements in Research”.

This prestigious award, now in its 16th year, was presented to Ian by Professor Warwick Britton AO, Director of Research for RPAH in an award ceremony on Friday, 28th of August 2015.

In his acceptance speech, Ian said Obesity was a disease and needed to be treated as such. He said there was much work to be done to reduce the prevalence of obesity and diabetes in Australia and the rest of the world, and that the age group showing the greatest rise in obesity was that of emerging adulthood (18-35). He also highlighted the many advances in obesity management and that this had been shown to produce good outcomes in the short and long term.
