Australia Day Honours for CMRI community

We received some exciting news over the long weekend with two much-loved members of the CMRI Community given Australia Day honours.

Advertising copywriter John Bevins, who was the creator of Jeans for Genes Day, was awarded an AM. Only last year we awarded him with the Lifetime of Service Award at our annual gala ball for the concept which produced $1 million in its first year to fit out the labs that had just been created at our new headquarters at Westmead.

President of our Judith Hyam Memorial Trust Fund for Cancer Research Diana Mahony was awarded an OAM. Last year Diana was made the City of Parramatta’s Citizen of the Year for her tireless work raising money for cancer research which has included more than $1 million in the 30 years she has volunteered for us – all while fighting cancer herself.
Both John and Diana have both contributed in their own ways to the success of fundraising for research and we are so pleased that they have received this formal recognition. Congratulations to both!
