Our Vision

We are very proud of the improvements that have been made in child health, but too many children still face major health problems, and there is a tremendous amount of work that must be done.

It is essential that we remain at the international forefront in our four major areas of research, and continue making the advances that will give every child a better chance of a healthy future.

Our strategy is to bring together a critical mass of scientists with complementary skills and expertise, with different research backgrounds, technical abilities, and problem solving methods – people who can work synergistically towards the important goals. This will ensure that we obtain the fresh, new insights required to continue our tradition of solving difficult problems and breaking new ground.

This will require an enlargement of the building and increased funding for the expanded research programs.

To obtain the necessary laboratory space we will redevelop our existing site. We have developed a plan that would enable us to progressively build all the new capacity that we need while allowing research activities to continue unhindered.

We are also making major improvements to our computing systems and administrative and fundraising processes to minimise our costs and enhance efficiency, in preparation for the planned increase of our research activities.

This is a major undertaking we cannot achieve without your support, for more information on our Redevelopment Campaign click here.

The productivity and output of our Institute is high for its modest size. With an influx of top scientists, with new ideas and complementary skills, we can achieve so much more.

The prize for success in this particular field of human endeavour is obviously beyond all measure: The health and potential happiness of a vast army of children of today and tomorrow.
